The NIS2 regulation is an updated European Union directive aimed at enhancing cyber security efforts, by improving the protection of network and information systems.

It builds upon the original NIS Directive, which has proven inadequate in dealing with the increasing complexity and frequency of cyber threats. Since the original directive, the cyber security landscape has evolved rapidly, with more sophisticated attacks targeting a broader range of sectors.
